Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding

Hippotherapy uses the natural movement of the horse to affect an individuals overall

function.

For hippotherapy a PT or OT is also part of the lesson, we use their reccomendations to

ensure the student is getting the most benifit possible from each session. Most students need a

leader and 2 sidewalkers for their lessons, so our programs could not run without our wonderful

volunteers.

All riding  can enhance confidence, sensory integration, attention span,

and communication skills. For these youngsters it is an enjoyable way of treatment in a non-clinical

enviromentwith remarkable results in many cases.

Our program is offered to students working to improve balance, posture, muscle tone,

range of motion, strength, mobility and focus.

We also offer a variety of volunteer opportunities many local high school students enjoy doing

their   community service hours  with us.

Equine assisted programs are not for everyone. Specially trained professionals will

evaluate each client on an individual basis.

The connection between humans and horses is somewhat magical as it is,

when the horse is able to help a child the gift is to see it happen.

We focus on the riders abilities rather than their disabilities.

Without our dedicated volunteers we could not run our program.

We are always looking for people who would be interested in volunteering with the children

Each session is 1/2 hour. for more information please go to "lotsa helping hands.com" or contact us

directly.

Therapeutic Riding

Therapeutic Riding is for older children who are able to steer and ride more independently,

Therapeutic Riders gain confidence and trust in their horses. Some need assistance and

some riders are able to ride with no assistance at all.

We focus on a variety of exercises on the horse or pony.
